Based on all results, several technical points and recommendation can be concluded: 1. PVDF coating film morphology is controlled by acrylic resin. 2. For topcoat, thermodynamically miscible acrylic resin is recommended to provide film with the best performance. 3. PVDF coating performance is optimized at 70% of PVDF content in binder. 4. Weather resistance of PVDF coating is linearly proportional to PVDF content in binder. 5. Thermosetting acrylic resin provides excellent performance advantages to PVDF coating. However, high crosslinking density is not recommended to avoid undesired phase separation resulting from induced immiscibility with PVDF. 6. The mechanism of phase separation is useful for designing PVDF coating primers.
