The effect of process parameters (agent ratio, temperature, volume feed rate and temperature gradients along a catalyst layer) on the yield of acetonitrile has been studied in the ammonolysis of acetic acid over γ-Al{sub}2O{sub}3 catalyst The effect of the composition of a reaction mixture (addition of ethyl acetate and acetic anhydride to acetic acid) on a catalyst lifetime is considered.
