For the problem of the measurement of leakage current of metal zinc-oxide lightning arresters (MOA) , the wavelet transform is applied to remove the noise existing in the signals. After this, the correlation analysis is applied to compute the resistive fundamental harmonic leakage current. The simulation results show that, comparing with the traditional signal processing methods, the wavelet transform can pick up the leakage current from noise satisfactorily, furthermore, it can reproduce the defection character in leakage current signal in truth, which has important meaning for early false diagnosis of equipments. By applying the correlation analysis, the measurement accuracy is highly improved, which ensure the reliability of the false diagnosis for equipments.
