The surface charge densities of 3T3 cells were determined using cell electrophoresis after being stimulated by -300V and -500V electret for 24 and 48 h, respectively. In addition, the concentration varying of Ca~(2+) in 3T3 cells and the amount of apoptosis of 3T3 cells were measured by means of flow cytometry (FCM) to explore the relationship between 3T3 cell apoptosis or cell surface charge density and free calcium concentration varying. The results showed that (1) negative electret could reduce the surface charge density of 3T3 apoptosis cell. (2) the increase of free calcium concentration was not due to the discharge of intracellular calcium, but due to the discharge of extracellular calcium. From our present study, we can conclude that negative electret could reduce the surface charge density of 3T3 cell, induce the influent of calcium ion from extracellular into intracellular which lead to the cell apoptosis.
