Electrochemical aspects of electrochemical interaction between galena and pyrite were shown by the corrosive wear. Rest potential, mixed potential, galvanic current and mixed polarization measurements were used to study the galvanic interaction of the galena and the pyrite electrode. Depending on the rest potential values, the pyrite was found to be nobler than the galena under all conditions. The Evans diagrams of electrode couples in the absence or the presence of butyl xanthate were given. In galvanic combination involving these minerals, the preferential anodic oxidation would occur on the surface of galena electrode, and the anodic corrosion rate for galena would accelerate 8~12 times. The anodic corrosion rate of pyrite electrode would be weakened about 88%. The results of flotation test showed that the floatability of galena contacting with pyrite is improved, the floatability of pyrite is weakened.
