摘要

The experimental study on the initiation of covered explosive DO by the long rod kinetic-energy projectile is presented in this paper. The results reveal that while long rod projectile penetrates DO explosive covered by steel, its mechanical energy transfer into thermal energy so that the hot spot initiation mechanism is formed. The hot spot temperature increases rapidly with the thickness of covering plate within the velocity and thickness threshold of the plate. While the temperature reaches some value, steady detonation will be caused . The threshold velocity of initiation is linearly related to the reciprocal of threshold thickness of the covering plate, from which the critical initiation conditions can be drawn.
