Thulium-doped multi-component glass in the composition of 20ZrF{sub}4-30ZnP{sub}2-25AlF{sub}3-10BaF{sub}2- 14YF{sub}3-1TmF{sub}3 (mol%) has bee's prepared and its blue up-conversion emissions are reported. A quantum efficiency of 58% was obtained for a blue up-conversion at 452nm. The energy levels and blue up-conversion mechanisms of this glass have been explained.
