ASME F92, 9Cr-1.8W-0.5Mo-NbVNB steel was successfully produced on a commercial scale, and demonstrated its good hot workability for forging. Evaluation of the mechanical and creep properties were also carried out for using actual scale thick component for boiler application. F92 compared favorably with ASME T92/P92. Stable long time creep properties were also investigated and discussed in terms of microstructure evolution, lath structure deterioration and precipitation coarsening, by Transmission Electron Microscope investigation and extracted residue analyses. New creep damage estimation models were introduced and discussed in order to prognosticate the stability of long time creep rupture strength. The EPRI Project on thick section boiler components accomplished the evaluation of the material and standardization in ASME Code Case.
