PRESTRESSED CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION IN INDIA YESTERDAY, TODAY AND TOMORROW

摘要

What has been presented here is a brief panorama of some important aspects and applications of pre-stressed concrete. It is a very vast subject and therefore cannot be compressed in one article. Innovations that could be achieved with this technique are limitless. In fifties and sixties of the last century, when pre-stressing was catching up universally, nobody could predict that a span length of about a kilometer would be realized before the end of the century. However, it has become a reality. Technological advances and construction engineering with ever increasing demands of the society for unique structures, have successfully assimilated this technique. There is no doubt that the hidden trait of this remarkable pre-stressed concrete would further get unfolded in the years to come for the benefit of mankind.
