bFGF and EGF both can enhance the outgrowth and differentiation of neural stem cells in primary culture; EGF may promote the proliferation of neural stem cell and exerts a preferential effect on glial development; FGF mainly affects neuronal development and, to a lesser extent, glial development. The combination of these two factors both can increase NSE and GFAP reactivity.
