Following partial spinal cord transection, the activation of ERK is up ― regulated in the area around the lesion, mainly in the microglial cells and oligodendrocytes. The results indicate that the activation of ERK signal pathway in the glia cells, indicating active proliferation of microglial cells and apoptosis of oligodendrocytes after spinal cord injury.
