An equation for the interfacial force acting on a spherical particle or bubble due to the constant interfacial energy gradient in the liquid metal has been derived as: F = -2RπK, where R is the radius of the particle/bubble, and K = dσ/dx is the constant interfacial energy gradient at the liquid metal - particle/bubble interface. This equation is confirmed by available experimental results on behaviour of bubbles published in the literature.
