In 2000, China totally produced 4.0292 million tons of ferro-alloy, increasing by 5.6 percent compared with 3.8143 million tons in 1999. In the same year, China totally imported 1.204 million tons of manganese ore, increasing by 12.21 percent compared with 1.073 million tons in 1999; the total production of ferro-alloy of manganese series was 1.8997 million tons and its export of the same year was 552,400t, accounting for 29.08 percent of the total production of ferro-ally of manganese series, 31.30 percent higher than that in 1999. Production and consumption of ferro-alloy of manganese series in China in recent five years are listed in Table 1.
