Tire tread profile measurement in terms of 3D FE tire mesh generation

In order to develop more flexible method of 3D tire mesh generation, it is necessary to collect precise tread profile data. An instrumentation system was constructed where a long-range laser sensor and uni-axial sliding unit were applied. Two agricultural tires which have typical and different tread profile, one for walking tractor and the other for turf keeper, were selected and measured. Obtained results showed that current system is applicable to the tire tread profile measurement. The FE mesh generation program will be prepared by using the obtained tread profile data.
