According to requirements of accurate design and machining for spatial cam, a new procedure is described to determine cam profiles equations, which are deduced by the theory of envelope of a single parameter family of surfaces described in parametric form. The CAD system of spatial cam mechanism based on such equations and Web technology is developed by visual C++ and Mechanical Desktop Software, and has preliminary functions of the remote cooperative design on Internet/Intranet environment. How to set up the prototype structure of remote cooperative design system and implement methods of networking application services orienting complex mechanical products are also discussed in this paper. Finally authors point out the necessary work of using the Internet/Intranet technology that should be done in the future.
