Struvite and calcium oxalate account for the majority of urocystolith submissions in dogs in North America At the Minnesota Urolith Center, the relative prevalence of these 2 urolith types has changed with canine oxalate submissions increasing dramatically from 5 percent in 1981 to 41 percent in 2007 and canine struvite submissions declining from 78 percent to 40 percent in the same time period. Similar trends have been reported in recent studies in both the USA and Canada.
