Determination of Porportions of Coal Char and Coke Fines in the Off Gas Blast Furnace Samples

There is an ongoing trend to reduce the consumption of coke in steel companies due to economic, environmental and raw material constraints (1-3). In the last decade, fuel injection techniques, such as Pulverised Coal Injection (PCI), have been optimised on many aspects, but further understanding on some fundamental issues is still needed before the optimum operating conditions of Blast Furnace (BF) could be maintained.
