In 1995, magnets were installed in the scrubber water system of the blast furnace at Bethlehem Steel. Sparrows Point for corrosion and scale control. All chemical addition was halted except base for pH adjustments. System operation for the year following the installation appeared successful. No chemical addition for corrosion and scale control was necessary and the system appeared to descale.
