Turning data into answers-making machine condition monitoring more relevant to company goals

Information has never been more valuable to a company. Competitive pressures to reduce costs-while at the same time improving equipment reliability, product quality and customer service-have increasingly focused attention on the value of the information-the very commodity that machine condition monitoring has to offer! This would suggest that PdM and CBM efforts should be welcomed and even encouraged within an organization-yet most efforts still lack the people, training and resources necessary to do their jobs effectively. Why is this so-and what can be done to change this?
