The reclamation of investment casting waxes has long been practiced in the industry but recent economic and environmental trends mean that wax reclamation is now an integral part of most casting wax supplier's business activities. Historically, commercial investment casting foundries used reclaimed wax as a low cost option for the production of runners and sprues. Today, in response to ever more competitive market conditions and the resultant need to reduce consumable costs, foundries are looking to their wax suppliers to provide more cost effective products. An obvious solution to this demand is to make wider use of reclaimed wax. Wax suppliers now produce a range of reclaim based products with performance characteristics that, in many cases, rival those of virgin pattern and runner waxes.
