The rules for the lattice rotations leading to deformation texture

The ambiguity in the calculation of the lattice rotation from a given slip pattern is outlined with focus on Sachs-type models which are particularly sensitive to the specific rule selected for the calculation. A new approach allows an apparently unambiguous calculation of the lattice rotation for a given grain shape. The implications for the interpretation of the experimentally observed textures in fcc materials are discussed.
