Bosch develops wiper systems for vehicles. The current market trends in the development of electrical vehicles demand automotive suppliers to design lighter and noise reduced components. This study focuses on wiper system related noises, and in particular on wiper blade reversal noise. An optimization workflow is developed which minimizes the perceived reversal noise with respect to a set of wiper system parameters of interest (e.g. wiper blade rubber's geometry, wiper arm load, wiping motion, etc) while fulfilling a set of given constraints (e.g. wipe quality). The proposed approach is applied to a mechatronic case.
