Supercritical helium (SHe) flow rate required for the Superconducting Magnet System (SCMS) of Steady State Superconducting Tokamak (SST-1) has been estimated on the basis of stability margin analysis and heat load on the system, taking into consideration the use of minimum number of control valves to regulate the flow in different coils. This paper discusses about the energy margin, and temperature margin of the Cable-in-Conduit conductor (CICC) to be used for SST-1 SCMS and the flow path details of different coils. This paper also discusses about the overall cooling scheme of the SCMS which shows the operation of the different kind of valves (e.g. flow control valve, ON/OFF valve etc.) during the cool-down and the quench of the SCMS.
