In this work, we have used Brillouin Light Scattering (BLS) to study the magnetic anisotropies in epitaxial Fe(8ML)/InAs(100) and Fe(100ML)/InAs(100) ultrathin filmstructures, which are very similar to the Fe/GaAs(100) ultrathin films. BLS is particularly well suited to study of magnetic excitation is such structures, it is a local probe, the incident light beam being focused onto the sample, allowing small areas to be investigated by using BLS, and spin-wave measurements to be made for nonzero in-plane momentum transfer.
