As the most common form of dementia, Alzheimer's disease (AD) brings a broad impact on society through its direct and indirect health-care related costs. But till now, no effective medical method could perform the early diagnosis of AD. A novel method which utilizes Micro-Raman spectroscopy (MRS) is applied to attempt early diagnosis of AD and the result is perfect. The in situ Raman spectra of platelet, which is from AD transgenic mice, clearly reveal two notable differences in protein composition and conformation compared with the control. Statistical analysis of the entire Raman spectrum is found capable of classifying the platelets with different pathological feature.
