As programming has evolved toward ease of use, and the programming community has expanded larger and larger, there is a high demand for easy-to-use and localized programming systems in countries where English is not their native language. AppComp, a progrmming system for the construction of graphical user interfaces, is developed to satisfy this demand. AppComp realizes its objective by offering the following features: It has a programming model simpler than traditional programming languages, employs prebuilt software components, provides a highly visual development environment, and supports a general mechanism to localize software components to programmers' native language, say Chinese.
