Changes are inevitable in software projects. They concern all the configuration items produced in software development and exploitation, including software project plans (Pre97). In a real practice, the snapshot of a project in teh implementation phase, the project manifestation, deviates from the preliminary defined plan very often. In this situation, the changes in the project implementation require to be managed. This is the responsibility of version control as a task of software configuration management (SCM) (Dar90), (Pre97).
