PRODUCING HIGH QUALITY SOLVENT FROM NAPHTHA STREAM

High quality aliphatic light solvent can be produced at refineries sites by the PETROBRAS UDS Process, a cost effective highly integrated continuous process, developed at PETROBRAS R, D & E Center (CENPES). The process is based on the removal by adsorption of the main contaminants and manages to process a wide range of distillate naphtha quality as feedstock. For its flexible operation and no hydrogen consumption, the UDS Process has been chosen over hydrotreating to two new industrial plants at Capuava (6,000 m3/month) and Canoas (4,000 m3/month) refineries, which are now on-stream, validating the technology developed.
