Sonic booms - do I have a problem?

Papers and reports on the amplitudes of micro-pressure waves emitted from tunnels are reviewed, with special emphasis on outstanding work in Japan over more than 25 years. The main purpose is to make the Japanese work more accessible to designers and researchers with limited ability in the Japanese language. The review focuses on the relationship between the amplitudes of micro-pressure waves and pressures just inside the tunnel exit portal. Little attention is paid to the causes of the internal pressures and none is paid to methods of reducing the potential amplitudes of micro-pressure waves.
