A summary of observations on acoustic emissions made during uniaxial compression testing of several brittle rock types (granite, limestone and tuft) will be presented. Acoustic emission observations include statistical parameters; i.e., cumulative events, energy and frequency characteristics, etc. Using the servo-control and high-stiffness testing machine, observation results show not only the brittleness features but also AE characteristics in both pre- and post-peak region.
