Timely and reliable access to the public data in a mobile computing environment, due to its physical characteristics and limitations, is a challenging task. In response to these challenges, broadcasting has been proposed as an efficient mechanism to make public data available to the user. Along with the architectural and hardware enhancements, efficient algorithms to allocate and retrieve data objects on/from single and multiple indexed parallel channels can be developed to minimize power consumption and improve access efficiency. This work proposes and examines a scheduling technique that minimizes both energy consumption and response time when retrieving objects from indexed broadcast parallel channels. A simulation of the scheme is presented to analyze the relationship between response time and power consumption.
