Molten Salt Central Receiver Power Plants with integral low-cost energy storage systems provide unique functional features: 1. High (60%) solar - only capacity factors are cost effective 2. Dispatchability using solar energy, not fossil energy. The Solar Tres Design will show improvements in annual efficiency, reliability and cost over Solar Two by: 1. New, state-of-the-art heliostat field 2. New molten salt receiver that incorporates lessons learned 3. Increasing solar multiple and storage size to achieve higher annual capacity factor.
