TOWARD THE SCIENTIFIC TRUTH ON HEALTH EFFECTS OF LOW LEVEL RADIATION

On the end of the twenty century, an extremely fundamental and significant problem raised by the recent development of life science brought out a special international meeting near Washington D.C. (Dec. 1～5, 1999) on the theme of Bridging radiation policy and science. I would review here the history of the events and scientific information concerned, and envisage some urgent endeavor to be started. 1. LNT hypothesis, 2. T. D. Luckey's claim, 3. Japanese research program, 4. ANS meeting 1994 and RSH, 5. Seville Conference 1997 (IAEA/WHO), 6. DOE Research started, 7. French Academy of Science, 8. Expect a report of the United States Academy of Science, 9. Appropriate research to find the dose rate threshold, 10. Adequate activities for the paradigm change.
