Some evaluations about bearing capacity for a shallow foundation are performed by means of probabilistic methods to asses Reliability Index, based on assigned alues of coefficients of variation of the friction angle and of the effective cohesion. The comparison has been done between the classic method of Hasofer and Lind as modified by Low and Tang and the Monte Carlo method by Marek and Pavel, leading to results somtimes very close one to the other, sometimes discreetly available to be compared.
