Experimental investigation of linear Mori-Tanaka method

摘要

The linear Mori-Tanaka's method (LMTM) proposed by Zuiker and Dvorak gives a higher order constitutive formulation for heterogeneous materials, the stress and strain gradients enter into the constitutive relation. In this paper, Based on the photoelasticity and a beam model an experimental method is proposed to analyze the LMTM method, the influence of the distribution and scales of the microstructures will be investigated and they will be compared with the theoretical model by Finite Element Method. The numerical calculations are oonducted with ANSYS program. From the comparison, the correlation between the theoretical and experimental results is accurate, and the results show that LMTM method can give reasonable prediction for the overall properties.
