摘要

The objective of this paper is to simulate the aluminum extrusion process utilizing a Gleeble thermal-mechanical simulator. The thermal cycles of billet heating, deformation heating, and post extrusion cooling have been studied using a 6xxx series aluminum alloy. The thermal cycles that a billet experiences during extrusion strongly influence the resultant mechanical properties of the material. The optimization of both process parameters and phsical propertiesare advantageous for the final quality of the extrudate. A complete analysis of the microstructural and mechanical property response to various thermal cycles has been examined, which will aid in the understanding of the extrusion thermal process cycle.
