Acceleration wave in a generalized sense is considered to be the case when there is a jump in the derivatives (with respect to time and space coordinates) of the acceleration field. The constitutive equation should satisfy the assumption that in general such waves have at least four wave speeds. Finally, a one-dimensional form of that constitutive equation will be used to find the conditions of material instability for finite deformations.
