The ballistic impact of hybrid armour systems

摘要

Research is conducted into the impact of armour systems by projectiles travelling at ballistic velocities. An attempt is made to relate the ballistic impact of woven fabric structures to the behaviour of impacted yarns. The effects of impact on structures consisting of hybrids of aramid, nylon and high-modulus polyethylene are described. The method of characteristics is investigated for its usefulness in providing an insight into the impact process.
