Red-forest distributes very widely in Hainan Island, and it has many species and well growing environment. This paper will introduce the methodology for investigation the distribution regions of red forest by Landsat imageries and the dynamic variation of its growth by aerial-photographs in 1960's, 1970's, and 1980's. The results show that the total area of red-forest is 60.03 square kilometers, which has reduced 52 percent in the past of 30 years. By the investigation, we can find out the reasons for red-forest's decreasing, finally we gives some proposals for protecting the red-forest.
