摘要

Due to the introduction of a new machine tool concept and electroplated diamond tools, the process of gear honing has established as a competitive hard machining process for gears. This paper describes the interactions of process behaviour and the residual stresses induced during gear honing. High compressive residual stresses were generated under all investigated conditions. This can be attributed to high mechanical and low thermal loads in the contact zone between tool and workpiece. By this means, gear honing avoids the danger of thermal damage and guarantees reproducible subsurface quality.
