We extended the analysis of a pyroelectric sensor response commonly made with sinuosoidally modulated radiation sources to other modulation functions that can be developed in a Fourier series. The algorithm we developed was used recently to study and optimise the voltage response to square wave modulated radiation of a multilaye PVDF sensor devoted to a spectroscopic application using a low power (165#mu#W) IR laser diode emitting at 5.8 #mu#m.
