Implementation outline of MARPOL convention and prediction about the impact on marine diesel engine power plant

摘要

In this article the authors have analyzed the background of the Annex VI to the MARPOL Convention of the IMO. The authors have pointed out, because of the advantages of Diesel power plant on ship it will functionfurther as the main power plant on ship in the future of 20 or more years. The article has also analyzed the emission in the Diesel engine exhaust, particularly the NO_x and SO_x, according to the work principle of the engine. The implementation of the Annex VI to the MARPOL Convention is carefully studied. And then the influence of the implementation of the ANNEX VI on the marine Diesel power plant is discussed. At last, it is pointed out that "the low environment pollution" of the Diesel power plant will be the main research area after the impact, reliability and fuel economics. The environment prevention and fuel economics must be considered integrated.
