Background/Objectives. Groundwater occurring at 32 ft bgs beneath a former plating shop was impacted with chromium. Given future land use, chromium-impacted soil were being excavated and removed down to shallow groundwater with a bottom-of-excavation footprint totaling 5,000 ft2. The selected groundwater pilot study approach involved insitu soil mixing of CPS from 32 to 41 ft bgs from the excavation bottom. This “opportunistic” in situ application approach was evaluated for reducing chromium to below the MCL.
