Background/Objectives. A finite-element groundwater flow model was used to evaluate 10 years of changes in a hydrologic system for a chlorinated contaminant plume in a large, multiple layer aquifer. The plume is present in an area with many pumping wells, infiltration areas, injection wells, and other hydrologic features. The objective of the groundwater flow simulations was to provide a tool to evaluate how changes in the hydrologic system would affect capture zones, flow fields, and contaminant migration.
