Background/Objectives. Past operations at a former industrial manufacturing facility in central Israel may have resulted in the release of a broad range of contaminants. Historical operations at the site included metal cutting, passivation and painting. The site has been remediated from petroleum and heavy metals contamination, but not from chlorinated volatile organic solvents (cVOC). Several post remediation sampling campaigns at the site identified the presence of cVOC, but little information was present to suggest where releases may have occurred. The client initially preferred that a broad area investigation with fewer samples be performed to characterize the site. LDD alternatively proposed the use of a passive soil gas technology to perform a highresolution site characterization to cost effectively locate with higher precision where contamination was present and strategically guide remediation.
