摘要

Background/Objectives. The former drycleaner site located in Jacksonville, Florida, utilized tetrachloroethene (PCE). Significant groundwater impacts remain after soil source remediation, with total volatile organic halocarbon (VOH) concentrations of up to 100 ppm in groundwater, predominantly parent compounds PCE and trichloroethene (TCE). An enhanced biodegradation remedy was selected for further evaluation after pilot testing of chemical oxidation and chemical reduction showed these approaches to be infeasible due to cost and logistical factors. In situ microcosm (ISM) studies were conducted as a low-cost method to evaluate the potential for enhancing VOH biodegradation through bio-stimulation and bio-augmentation.
