摘要

The influence of microstructural defects on strength in Si_3N_4 is reviewed. The presence of cracks , pores and inclusions greatly affects the strength of Si_3N_4. The micron order crack size and distribution were quantified by micrographic technique The observed defect size was range from 4 #mu#m to 28 #mu#m. The density of defect increases as the defect size decreases. The correlation between defects size and density was better represented on the logarithmic graph. The correlation was linier.
