PREPARATION AND PROPERTIES OF GERMANIUM SULFIDE GLASSES

Ge-S binary glasses in the range 57 to 90 at percent S at 0.5 to 3 at percent S intervals were prepared by a conventional melting technique using fused quartz ampoules as melting containers. Impurities contaminated during preparation process are evaluated by IR spectroscopy. The causes of impurity contaminations are discussed. Density data in a systematic series of Ge-S glasses is demonstrated.
