The effect of low temperature electron irradiation on the anisotropy of pinning and vortex dynamics was investigated by dc-current resistivity measurements in YBa_2Cu_3O_(7-x) (YBCO) single crystals. The introduction of additional defects increases vortex pinning when the magnetic field is applied in vicinity of the ab-plane of the crystal, while pinning decreases for the field applied in vicinity of the c-axis. This behaviour is explained by the different influence of the defects on elastic and plastic creep, which are realized for applied magnetic field in vicinity of the ab-plane and c-axis, respectively.
