After the 1300°C_pyrolysis,_the surface of carbon fiber is inert and lyophobic, and there is less functional groups on the fiber surface. Consequently, the connection between carbon surface and the epoxy resin is weaken. In order to improve interface stress transmit efficiency and the interlaminar shear strength, the key step is applying sizing agent. After carbon fiber was processed by electrochemical treatments, which mainly generating hydroxyl, carbonoxyl, and amino reactivity groups, the surface activity of carbon fiber strengthen, and the content of functional group increases. Carbon fiber processed by chemical treatment can facilitate the formation of chemical bond connection between carbon fiber and sizing agent, which improve the interlaminer shear strength of the composite material.
